World Environment day

Welcome to my page, 

                   Today, I am Aastha soam, and I am here to tell you a little about Environment day and all the themes of Environment day which is celebrated yet. 

World Environment day -

We celebrate this day on 5th of june every year with a new theme. This day, we celebrate to raise awareness in environment, to protect it and this day all people have a chance to do something for environment. This day also called people's day, eco day, world Environment day and also International Environment day. This day is an International day. Every year Environment day celebrate with new theme and different countries host it.This day is celebrating by last 45 years. The theme of 2020 Environment day is " Celebrate biodiversity ".

I think you should know about all the themes of environment day which is celebrated yet to know more about Environment, so I am just going to tell you about all the themes -

1974

In 1974, the theme which was chosen is " Only one earth ", and hosted by Spokane, United States. 

1975

That year, the theme of environment day was " Human Settlements ". It was hosted by Dhaka, Bangladesh. 

1976

In 1976, the theme for environment day was " Water: Vital Resources for life". It was hosted by Ontario, Canada. 

1977

The theme which was chosen for Environment day is " Ozone layer Environmental Concern; Lands loss and Soil degradation. It was hosted by Sylhet, Bangladesh. 

1978

In 1978, the theme for environment day is " Development Without destruction ". It was hosted by Sylhet, Bangladesh. 

1979

In 1979, the theme which was selected is " Only One Future our Children - development without destruction ". It was hosted by the country is Sylhet, Bangladesh. 

1980

In 1980, the theme was chosen for Environment day was " A new Challenge for the new Decade: Development Without Destruction ", and it was hosted by the country is  Sylhet, Bangladesh. 

 

1981

In 1981, the theme of environment day was " Groundwater, toxic chemicals in human food chains".It was hosted by Sylhet, Bangladesh. 

1982

In 1982, the theme which was selected for environment day is "Ten years after Stockholm (Renewal of environmental concerns)". Dhaka, Bangladesh hosted it. 

1983 

" Managing and disposing Hazardous waste: Acid, Rain, and energy" Was the theme of environment day in 1983.That year, it was hosted by Sylhet, Bangladesh. 

1984

In 1984, the theme of environment day was "Desertification"and hosted by Rajshahi, Bangladesh. 

1985

In 1985, The theme of environment day was " Youth: population and the environment ". It was hosted by Islamabad, Pakistan. 

1986

In 1986, "A tree for peace" Was the theme of environment day and it was hosted by Ontario, Canada. 

1987

In 1987 ,The theme which was selected for environment day was" Environment and Shelter: More than a root ". It was hosted by Nairobi, kenya. 

1988 

In 1988, the theme of Environment day is " When People Put The Environment First, development will last Global Warming ". It was hosted by Bangkok, Thailand. 

1989

In 1989, the theme for Environment Day was " Global Warming ". It was hosted by the country, Brussels(Belgium) . 

1990

In 1990, the theme which was selected for environment day was " Children and Environment " , Which was hosted by Mexico City, Mexico. 

1991 

In 1991, the theme for environment day was " Climate Change, Need for Global Partnership " . It was hosted by Stockholm, Sweden. 

1992

The theme " Only One Earth, Care and Share" Was selected for environment day in 1992 which was hosted by Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. 

1993

In 1993, the theme for environment day was " Poverty and the Environment Breaking the vicious circle "  Which was hosted by the country is Beijing, China. 

1994

In 1994, the theme which was selected for environment day is " One earth, One family", which was hosted by London, United States. 

1995

The theme, In 1995  which was selected for environment day " We the Peoples: of the Global Environment", and hosted by Pretoria, South Africa. 

1996

In 1996, the theme for environment day was " Our earth, Our habitat, Our home" . It was hosted by Istanbul, Turkey. 

1997

In 1997, the theme of environment day was " For life on earth", hosted by Seoul, Korea. 

1998

In 1998, the theme " For life on earth - Save our Seas" Was selected for environment day and that year it was hosted by Moscow, Russian Federation. 

1999

In 1999, the theme which was selected for environment day is " Our earth - Our future - just save it! "  Which was selected by Tokyo, Japan. 

2000

In 2000, the theme was selected for environment day was "The Millennium - Time to act", and it was hosted by Adelaide, Australia. 

2001

The theme, In 2001 was " Connect with the World wide web of life", and hosted by Torino, Italy with Havana, Cuba. 

2002

In 2002, the theme which was selected for environment day is " Give Earth a Chance". It was hosted by Shenzhen, China. 

2003

In 2003, the theme for environment day was " Water - two billion people are dying for it!". It was hosted by Beirut, Lebanon. 

2004

In 2004, the theme of environment day was " Wanted! Seas and and Oceans - dead or alive? ". It was hosted by Barcelona, Shain. 

2005

 " Green Cities - plan for the planet! "

Was the theme for environment day in 2005 and it was hosted by San Francisco, United States. 

2006

In 2006, the theme which was selected for environment day is " Deserts and Desertification - Don't desert drylands!. It was hosted by Algiers, Algeria. 

2007

In 2007, the theme which was  selected is " Melting ice - a hot topic?. It was hosted by London, England.

2008 

In 2008, " Kick the habit - Towards a low Carbon Economic " Was the theme selected for environment day, which was hosted by Wellington, New Zealand. 

2009

In 2009, the theme which was selected for environment day is " Your planet needs you - unite to combat climate change " . It was hosted by Mexico City, Mexico. 

2010

In 2010, the theme of environment day was " Many Species, One planet, One future " . It was hosted by Rangpur, Bangladesh. 

2011

In 2011, " Forests: Nature at your service" Was the theme for environment day which was selected by New delhi, India. 

2012

In 2012, the theme which was selected for environment day is " Green Economy: does it include you?", hosted by Brasilia, Brazil. 

2013

In 2013, " Think, eat, save, reduce your Foodprint " Was the theme which was selected for environment day by the country Ulaanbaatar, Mangolia. 

2014

In 2014, the theme was " Raise your voice, not the sea level " Which was chosen by the country Bridgetown, Barbados.

2015

In 2015, " Seven Billion Dreams, One planet, Consume with care " was the theme for environment day which was hosted by Rome, Italy. 

2016

The theme which is hosted  by the country,  'Luanda, Angola' is " Zero tolerance for the illegal wildlife trade " . 

2017 

In 2017, the theme which was selected for environment day is " Connecting people to nature - in the city and on the land, from the poles to the equator ", which was hosted by Ottawa, Canada. 

2018

In 2018, the theme of environment day was " Beat plastic pollution " ,Which was hosted by New delhi, India. 

2019 

In 2019, " Beat air pollution " Was the theme for environment day which was hosted by China. 

2020

The theme for environment day 2020 is " Celebrate Biodiversity " Which is hosting by Colombia with partnership of Germany.
